Dear Hutchings Community,
We know you've been patient, and we know it's taken longer than expected, but we are happy to share some ROO NEWS! We've learned that Mrs. Jilek-Wolfe is picking Roo up on May 13th!
Students in her classroom are helping spread the news, too. They have created posters and will come share the news next Wednesday, presenting to classrooms! Two great examples of their posters are included in this issue.
The upcoming first grade presentations remind me of our experience with the eclipse last week. Fifth graders presented eclipse information to all of our students, and Mr. DeLand knew how valuable it would be to make sure everyone had access to a safe pair of glasses. Families - thank you for helping to reinforce expectations for viewing the eclipse - it was incredible to experience this event as an entire elementary school.
I'm writing a little less today, but it's because I'm including our exciting Roo posters. It's wonderful that as a building, we've found ways to celebrate together and include students at all grade levels - Roo, the eclipse, our Husky Skate Night at Rollerama yesterday, and Hutch the caterpillar is winding its way through our hallways. Our classrooms each have a special identity, but the things we're providing for all of our Hutchings community are what make this place so special.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Ben Malecki

Counselor's Corner:
Each summer, the elementary counselors share a comprehensive list of summer opportunities and activities for families! If you know of any low-cost or free resources, programs, or activities that could be helpful for Howell families, please share that information with me! We are looking for ideas in the areas of reading and learning, parenting, food, general assistance, and just for fun! We'd love to have some creative ideas that come from our great. community members!
