Dear Hutchings Community,
The heat hung around a bit longer than we're used to, but it's beginning to feel like fall. In the next few weeks, we're going to really celebrate the change in seasons with our Fun Run and our Trunk-or-Treat. You can find details to the right in the column with PTO Events.
I've been thinking a lot about patience lately, and maybe because I've been longing for cooler weather. It gets pretty hot in a tie when it's 80 degrees out.
And this week involved a lot of our teams at Hutchings meeting, problem solving, and brainstorming. Sometimes we meet with families to discuss how to support a kid. Sometimes I meet with a student to discuss a mistake. Sometimes, members of our staff meet to think about what new systems to create or opportunities to bring. We could certainly rush to a result, but I'm try to approach problems more patiently.
Quick fixes are lovely and happen sometimes, but it often takes a lot of patience to do quality work. I'm always proud of our teams for moving slowly, examining situations, considering alternatives, and allowing for all voices and perspectives to be considered.
I'd imagine a few readers of this Hutchings Herald were participants in some of these types of meetings. I appreciate how hard it can feel to be patient, and I'll certainly take a quick fix when I can.
As we are really hitting our stride in my second year at Hutchings, it's inspiring to see the problems that are objectively better and the teams that are patient enough and dedicated enough to solve them.
I hope you have wonderful weekends.
Sincerely,
Ben Malecki
Principal
