Dear Hutchings Community,
We're already through a quarter of the year! Incredible! It was wonderful to see so many of you at conferences yesterday, and I'm excited to see many more of you next Thursday! If you haven't had the chance to schedule a conference yet, please reach out to your student's teacher.
The partnership our teachers and families form is so important, and I'm proud of all of the ways our staff communicates with you- both in their regular, predictable messages (newsletters, Seesaw, Schoology, etc.) and in the conversations that they have with you when a particular need arises.
Since I've arrived at Hutchings, I've marveled at our staff's compassion. I hear families comment on this consistently, too. This compassion is the bedrock of our work in asking students to reach higher.
As a father, I know that my children can tell when they have compassionate educators in their lives. When surrounded by compassionate people, my children feel more positive and feel more celebrated. My children are also more receptive to tough conversations from compassionate adults. If my own children are going to reach their potential and make the gains we want them to, they have to reflect on a struggle and form a plan to improve. It can be hard to hear about an area of improvement, which is why the relationships we build and the compassion we bring matter so much.
Hearing the conversations between our staff and families throughout the year (and in particular at conferences), I really want to celebrate and recognize the constructive conversations I'm hearing. Thank you for your part in them.
Sincerely,
Ben Malecki
Principal
