Northwest News 3/13/2026

Dear Northwest Families,

I want to make sure our Northwest families know about an excellent opportunity coming up in our community. The Livingston County Parent Summit will take place on Saturday, March 21 from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Parker Middle School, and it is completely free for families to attend.

This event is designed to support parents as they navigate many of the challenges families face today—especially when it comes to technology, social media, screen time, and helping kids grow up healthy and balanced in a digital world. Experts and community organizations from across Livingston County will be sharing practical ideas, tools, and strategies that parents can use right away at home.

The morning will include engaging sessions for parents, opportunities to learn from local experts, and a wellness fair featuring community resources that support families and students. Whether you’re looking for ideas on managing screen time, understanding the impact of social media, or simply connecting with helpful resources in our area, there will be something valuable for every parent.

I will also be attending the summit, and I would truly love to see some Northwest families there. Events like this are a great reminder that raising kids today takes a community, and Livingston County does a fantastic job bringing people together to support families.

One of the best parts of this event is that free childcare is provided during the summit. While parents attend the sessions, children will rotate through a variety of interactive stations where they will be learning, exploring, and participating in fun activities led by educators and community partners. Your kids will be engaged and learning while you take advantage of the parent sessions.

If you’re looking for a meaningful way to spend a Saturday morning while gaining helpful insights and connecting with other families in our community, I strongly encourage you to check out the Livingston County Parent Summit.

I hope to see many of our Northwest Eagles there!

Yours in Education,

Craig Munro

Principal

2026-2027 Placement Consideration Form

The Howell elementary schools have a process that allows parents to provide the school information about their child that will assist in the placement of the child through the use of a Placement Consideration Form. The form asks that you describe the educational setting (academics, behavioral and physical) that you would like to have for your child without naming a particular teacher. It is important to be as detailed as possible stating the type of classroom environment that would most benefit your child. Example: structured, relaxed, hands-on, challenging, quiet, teacher-directed, etc. Please note: When a specific teacher name is included on the form, the form will not be accepted or considered. Click here to access the form. Forms will be accepted through Friday, April 10.
