Dear Northwest Families,
I hope you’ve had a wonderful summer break! We’re excited to welcome everyone back for another fantastic year at Northwest Elementary. This year is especially meaningful, as it’s one of our last in our current building. More updates about the new building will be coming soon, but for now, here are some key details to help you get ready for the school year.
Teacher Placements
Teacher placements will be available in PowerSchool starting Thursday, August 14. Please note that we cannot accept specific teacher requests after placements are posted.
Open House – Monday, August 18
To help reduce crowding, we’ve set the following suggested times:
Begindergarten/Kindergarten
Grades 1–5
If your assigned time doesn’t work for your family, no problem—please come when you can.
School Supplies
We provide all essential school supplies, so students will have everything they need for learning each day. That said, we know picking out new crayons, pencils, or markers can be a fun tradition, so feel free to send in personal favorites if you’d like.
School Meals & Free/Reduced Lunch Application
The State of Michigan budget has yet to be released. The budget for the year may or may not include free breakfast and lunch for all students for the 2025–26 school year. We encourage families to complete the free/reduced lunch application, as qualifying provides additional benefits. You can find the application HERE.
