Northwest News 4/4/2025

Dear Northwest Families,

When students miss school, it doesn’t just impact their own learning—it affects the entire classroom community. Teachers often need to pause or re-teach material, and students miss valuable discussions, group work, and the momentum of daily learning. It can be hard to catch up on everything that happens in a single day!

We know that illnesses and emergencies happen, but whenever possible, please make sure your child is here, on time, and ready to learn. Consistent attendance builds strong habits, keeps learning on track, and supports the success of the whole class. We appreciate your partnership in making every day count!

Our 3rd–5th grade students are about to begin the M-STEP (Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress). This state assessment gives us valuable insights into how students are progressing in key areas like reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. While it’s just one snapshot of learning, it helps guide instruction and supports academic growth.

Please help your child do their best by making sure they get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive to school on time. Encouragement and positivity go a long way—thank you for your support!

Yours in education,

Craig Munro

Principal
