Dear Northwest Families,
It’s hard to believe we’ve already completed three weeks of school! I’m thrilled to see how well our students have settled into their routines and embraced learning with enthusiasm. From the classrooms to the playground, there’s a positive energy that’s contagious. I’ve seen so many examples of kindness, collaboration, and curiosity, which align perfectly with the values we’re nurturing this year. Our focus on being curious, not judgmental, has already led to some wonderful conversations between students and staff, fostering a strong sense of community.
I also want to take a moment to thank all of you for your continued support in making this school year successful. Whether it's ensuring your students arrive on time or encouraging them to approach each day with a growth mindset, your partnership is invaluable. As we move forward, please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns. Together, we can ensure a great year for every student here at Northwest!
Smart Watches
Please refrain from sending Smart Watches with your student, as they are considered wireless communication devices (WCDs) due to their ability to connect to the internet. According to Board policy and our Student/Parent Handbook, WCDs should not be brought to school. If a WCD does come to school, it must be stored in the student’s locker.
Instagram → Talon
If you have Instagram, please consider giving Talon a follow! We try to put fun pictures of him on there - both from school and home! I know the students would love to see what Talon gets into at home.
Halloween Costumes
We will continue our "No Mask" policy for costumes this year. This decision is based on past experiences where some costumes were too frightening for our younger students. Please also avoid using face paint to create scary costumes. The "No Mask" policy does not apply to inflatable costumes that cover a student's head.
