Northwest News 2/15/2024 (1)

Dear Northwest families,

Happy Winter Break! We hope you enjoy these few days off of school - catch your breath and reconnect. We look forward to seeing you back at school on Tuesday, February 20th!

NORTHWEST DATA

Just when you thought you couldn’t love Northwest more, check out this data we collected regarding student performance and perceptions! A huge thank you to the students that work hard, the parents that support unconditionally, and especially to our fantastic staff that teaches, coaches, and inspires daily!

ATTENDANCE

Despite the good news shared above, we need your help! One of our major focus areas this quarter is to improve our attendance. 29% of our students are chronically absent, which means they have missed 10% or more of school days. Here are some things that families can do to help us improve our attendance rates:

Keep in mind that even an excused absence is still time out of the classroom and away from instruction and friends

When possible, schedule appointments on days we are not in session.

If your student is out, make sure they make up their work immediately so they don’t fall further behind.

MARCH IS READING MONTH

Please join us on February 29th from 6:00-7:30 pm for our exciting March is Reading Month kick-off! Our staff has some awesome things planned - games, activities, reading, and snacks! This is one of the few opportunities to connect as a Northwest family in the evening, so we would love to see as many families as possible!

Yours in education,

Craig Munro

Principal
