Northwest News 5/5/2023

Dear Northwest Families,

It has been a busy spring! Our Junior and Senior Survivors raised $188,490 for the Highlander Hownds therapy dog program. Thank you for supporting this cause by sharing your coins and attending our movie night!

Although there is less than a month left of school, there is no shortage of events and activities! Please take note:

KIDS READ NOW

We are delighted to partner with a non-profit called Kids Read Now, a high-quality and FREE reading program proven to help maintain students' reading skills over the summer. Here is what you need to know:

  • This is for students currently in BK-4th grades.
  • Your child’s teacher will help your child choose eight books at their reading level.
  • All books will be sent to your home over the course of the summer. In order to have the books arrive by mail, we ask families to confirm and update their contact information online at portal.kidsreadnow.org
  • Download the KRN app to see what popular, award winning, engaging books your child selected. You can also report the books your child has read and track their progress with a fun in-app game!
  • Students who report all eight books are rewarded with a prize and certificate in the fall!

LITTLE CAESARS PIZZA KIT SALE

Please consider supporting our upcoming Little Caesars Pizza Kit sale! We are raising money for behavior incentives, extra clothes for the clinic, and snacks and water for students in need - for this year and next. Every kit we sell earns profit and makes an impact. The link to purchase is here. If you prefer to just make a donation, please make checks payable to Northwest Elementary and send in with your student or drop off in the main office.

FIELD DAY

Field Day is Monday, May 22nd! Grades 3-5 will be participating from 9:15-11:30 and grades BK-2 will be participating from 12:45-3:15. We are looking for parent volunteers! If you are interested in helping, please contact your child’s teacher for more information. You can also email Mr. Wildman: [email protected].

Yours in Education,

Craig Munro

Principal
