Dear Northwest Families,
We are quickly approaching the midpoint of the year - and our much-needed Winter Break. I’d like to start by wishing you a happy, healthy holiday season. I know I say it every year, but please take time to really engage with and enjoy your child(ren). I speak on behalf of the entire staff when I tell you that we love being with your children and we recognize how special they are!
ROBOTICS
Congratulations to our 4th and 5h grade Robotics team! Their hard work earned them a spot at the state competition! Thank you to Cathy Fisher and Emily Pokoyoway for leading this team! Thank you to the students for representing Northwest so well!
COLD WEATHER
It is getting cold! Please send winter gear with your student, even if it is not snowing or there isn't any snow on the ground. We go outside for recess whenever the “Real Feel” (as determined by Weather.com) is at or over 10 degrees. Are you in need of gear? The Salvation Army (503 Lake Street, Howell) has winter wear available for free Monday through Friday from 10-12 and 1:30-3:00. Call 517.546.4750 for more information.
YEARBOOKS
In the past, yearbooks were given to each student for free. Last year, PTO graciously purchased the yearbooks for all students (THANK YOU, PTO!). This year, yearbooks are going to need to be purchased for $5. Please go to ybpay.com and enter code 12175023. You may also need to enter our school’s name - Northwest Elementary School. A flier will be coming home with your child soon.
All in all, it has been a FANTASTIC first half of the year!
Yours in education,
Craig Munro
Principal
