Dear Northwest Families,
We are officially halfway through our first quarter! We have successfully gotten settled, learned important routines, developed community in our classrooms, and started curriculum. I continue to be so proud of the teachers and students in this building - we are working hard and staying healthy! Thank you for everything you do at home to make sure your child is successful at school.
HOMECOMING SPIRIT WEEK
Howell Spirit Week is next week: September 26-30 (see below for our spirit day themes)! We invite you to support Northwest at the annual Homecoming Parade - it starts at 5:00 and runs along Grand River through town. Our Student Council will be representing Northwest and we would love to see some familiar faces!
Monday (9/26): Dress-up as your future occupation (what you want to be when you grow up)
Tuesday (9/27): Wear colors/jersey/hat of your favorite team
Wednesday (9/28): Wear clothes backwards, inside out, or mismatched
Thursday (9/29): Wear tye-dye or as many colors as you can
Friday (9/30): Green and Gold Day!
COLOR RUN FUNDRAISER
The fundraiser is off to an amazing start! Thank you to our wonderful PTO for giving our school this opportunity. Many more details will be coming out in the next few days regarding the actual run, but I wanted to thank all of you for your support for our PTO and our school! Search for “Northwest PTO Howell, MI” on Facebook for updates.
COSTUMES
Halloween will be celebrated on Monday, October 31st. Students CAN wear masks, but CANNOT have weapons or wear anything that is considered too “scary” (overtly violent, ghastly, etc.). Please remember we have students as young as four in our building - we ask that you look at every aspect of your child’s costume through the eyes of a kindergartener. Students will be asked to change if costumes are inappropriate.
ENTRY INTO THE BUILDING
We are committed to keeping kids safe! Please remember that, when you attempt to enter the building, we will be asking for your student’s name and the reason for the visit. Even if you are here everyday, we will still follow this same safety protocol.
Yours in Education,
Craig Munro
