Dear Northwest Families,
This year is off to a fantastic start! Our students have learned our important routines and expectations, and they are maximizing every learning opportunity. We are about to finish our fall testing (NWEA) - this gives us some good baseline data that we use to push our students to grow. I am anticipating great overall growth this year!
PERSONAL ELECTRONIC DEVICES
Elementary students are allowed to bring personal electronic devices to school, but they must remain powered off and out of sight during the duration of the school day. We have seen a rise in the usage of smart watches (which are considered personal electronic devices) - please help us abide by Board Policy 5136 and either keep devices at home, or remind students to keep them powered off and in their locker.
ATTENDANCE
If your child is going to be absent for the day, or any portion of the day, please call our attendance line as soon as possible to excuse and explain the absence: (517) 540-8082 (OPTION 1).
LOC STUDENT-RUN CREDIT UNION
Our Student-Run Credit Union (LOC) is starting up again! 5th grade students who work at LOC perform various duties and positions available at banks and other financial institutions. K-5 students who bank at the LOC learn real-life lessons in savings and finance. Take a few minutes to check out the FLIER and VIDEO.
ROBOTICS
There is still time to join our Robotics Team! The next meeting is Saturday, September 10th from 10:00 am to 12:00 in our cafeteria. If you are interested in joining, or learning more about the program, please fill out THIS FORM.
YEARBOOKS
There will be a small fee for a yearbook this year. There will be a process for ordering them when it is time to order our fall pictures. More information to follow.
JOIN OUR TEAM
We are looking for a lunch/recess supervisor! This is a quick and enjoyable way to get into the building and support our students! If you are interested, please click THIS LINK to apply!
