Principal's Message
Dear Northwest Families,
It is truly a great time to be an Eagle! It’s testing season, and our students are showing great academic growth! Our teachers are keeping kids inspired and engaged with fun and rigorous learning activities! Our support staff is making sure students’ needs are met! Our families continue to ensure that students show up ready to learn each day! Northwest Eagles are the best!
COVID UPDATE
Throughout this whole pandemic experience, we have all had to be flexible and adjust to new (and constantly changing) demands and protocols.
Our most recent challenge is organizing and gathering materials for the individual students when they are quarantined. Many classrooms have students returning at the same time as other students are leaving for quarantines. This is putting a lot of stress and pressure on our teachers and staff who are trying to ensure every child is still receiving a solid and quality education. To help ease the logistical aspect of getting materials home, we are asking for a full school day to gather and assemble a student’s remote learning materials.
If your child is quarantined for COVID, please give us a full school day to get the materials to the office for you to pick up. I understand, from the parent perspective, that it can be difficult to wait (my own children have been quarantined multiple times), but please know it takes time for teachers to get your child’s materials together while also continuing to teach the other students present in the classroom.
All in all, please be patient if you experience a quarantine. THIS DOCUMENT has some good information and examples.
THANK YOU SCHOOL BOARD
January is School Board Recognition Month - and in Howell, we are among the BEST. Our School Board makes a lot of important decisions - about policies and personnel and plans. It is a difficult and thankless job. Despite all the changing circumstances, they have worked tirelessly to support the district and put kids first! Thank you Stacy Pasini, Brent Earl, Christy Conn, Courtney Tarara, Grace Trudell, Marcus Wilcox, and Crystal Zurek - we appreciate you and your service to our community!
TEACHER AND SUPPORT STAFF OF THE YEAR
A great way to show appreciation for our staff is to nominate them for “Teacher of the Year” or “Support Staff of the Year.” These annual awards honor an outstanding teacher and an exceptional support staff member for their dedication to our students, families, and community.
