Northwest News 12/10/21

Dear Northwest Families,

We are quickly approaching the midpoint of the year - and our much-needed Winter Break.  I’d like to start by wishing you a happy, healthy holiday season. I know I say it every year, but please take time to really engage with and enjoy your child(ren). I speak on behalf of the entire staff when I tell you that we love being with your children and we recognize how special they are!

If you aren’t already taking advantage of our kiss-n-go lane, I would strongly encourage you to consider it.  I know it can look daunting, but typically we have everyone unloaded or loaded in under 10 minutes. If you arrive at 8:35 in the morning or 3:40 in the afternoon, you will have a minimal wait. For more information on our kiss-n-go lane, click here

It is getting cold!  Please send winter gear with your student, even if it is not snowing or there isn't any snow on the ground. We go outside for recess whenever the “Real Feel” (as determined by Weather.com) is at or over 10 degrees. Are you in need of gear? The Salvation Army (503 Lake Street, Howell) has winter wear available for free Monday through Friday from 10-12 and 1-3. Call 517.546.4750 for more information.

I look forward to a wonderful second half of the school year that is full of fun and learning!

Yours in Education,

Craig Munro

Principal

Livingston County Broadband Survey

Livingston County needs  your help to explore broadband Internet opportunities in our community. The Livingston County Broadband Survey will be closing at the end of the month. The survey has gotten a great response so far, but we would love to have anyone who hasn’t completed the survey to consider doing so. Every response helps Livingston County plan for a better connected future. The survey is quick, easy, and all the information you provide is safe and secure. Take the survey in 5 minutes or less at https://www.merit.edu/livgov/.

COVID-19 Vaccinations

The  Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccination is now approved for children ages five and up. The Livingston County Health Department (LCHD) and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services strongly recommend that all eligible individuals receive a COVID-19 vaccination. The COVID-19 vaccine is widely available locally, and parents or guardians should go wherever works best for their family. COVID-19 vaccines are available from the LCHD, local primary care providers, pharmacies, and pediatrician offices. LCHD recommends individuals use www.vaccines.gov to find a convenient vaccination location. The COVID-19 vaccination is not required to attend school, however fully vaccinated students are exempt from quarantine requirements.
